Speaking of Art...

...this is my birthday cake from this year! Marko Head (MarkoHeadArt!) and Becky Funderburk made this little cutie. :) It's a beautiful piece of art!! The little Octopus is a Crayola bath toy. You hook it onto the faucet and water comes out of his legs! Marko added the beard and eyebrows.

My Favorite Shots From My Birthday At The Zoo!

EETS DONE!!

FINALLY got my Design II project done yesterday. It took probably around 6-8 hours in all to paint it. 4 hours on the foreground. I'm happy with it, but I wish I could paint better. Note to self: when you have two weeks to do a project, there's a reason. Don't put it off until four days before it's due.

Whew!

I finally finished my framing. I could enter three, and three I entered. I was taking a poll on Facebook about which rat design I should use and decided to use all three. I found an old, flood-survivor frame and made the back myself. Here's my finished pieces that I turned in today. Whew! It's over! But now the wait to see if I've gotten in or not. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!

BTW- Sorry about the crappy pictures. I used my phone. :P

Thoughts and Student Competitive #2

I'm really trying to do new things with art lately. It's all been digital/mixed media, but that's where I feel most comfortable. I'm kinda getting frustrated. I feel like I'm just waking up and trying to stretch my artistic abilities but I'm chained down. I guess I just don't have any direction. I look at this piece and wonder if it's a tacky horribly-done Illustrator piece. Like the horrible Deviant Art I see sometimes. I don't want to be one of those "artists". I want to experiment but I'm afraid it'll look bad. I feel like I CONSTANTLY must be asking questions and asking Marko what HE thinks I should do. Poor guy. He must really love me if he puts up with it so much. I played around last night and really wanted to draw a rat. I've fallen in love with colors and symmetry (I know, I know...symmetry is a dangerous thing to fall in love with...) and this shows it very much so. I'm going to enter it, but I honestly don't feel good about it. Gosh....I just want to be completely happy and find my thing in the art world. I AM proud of how far I've come in my little over a year of art experience.

No Plan....All Do.

Mr. Robert O'Nale and I worked on this piece today! No plan in mind.... It actually started with him asking me what to do. I replied. "Whatever. If I want to add an octopus with an eyepatch, I will!" "Ok! That's what we're doing!". Thus this piece was born.

I'd like to say I contributed more, but the prettiness is mostly Mr. Bob. I added the snail thing, starfish, and goldfish in love with the octopus. Everything else was all him! :) You should really paint more, sir. Don't let 8 more years go by without picking up a brush!!

Student Competitive Piece #Uno!

This is my first piece for the Student Competitive. :) I hope I actually get in! That's my goal! This is my first time to actually enter something like this (we were REQUIRED to turn in a piece for Art Seminar last semester....my piece is one of the ones in the Library, but I don't count that...I mean...I did get picked out of the whole group...but it's not big or anything.)!!

Please leave any feedback you may have. I drew the atomic bombs and rabbit in illustrator. The background is paint.

Old Color Wheel Pic

I took this with my phone three seconds before I turned it in. I swear it looks SO much better (and correct!) in real life. I should have used my SA200. The assignment was to mix red, yellow, and blue ONLY to make our color wheel. I've never hated Violet or Blue-Green so much. I've also never seen so much brown paint in my life. The finished result is this: Chicks and Eggs. Coming tomorrow: Photos of my "Hand" assignment, first Design assignment, and my life-sized drawing of India Lay. Enjoy.

Design II Painting

Here's the design. I'm going to start painting it ASAP (when I get it printed). I drew this in Adobe Illustrator. It features my favorite animal: the Jackalope!! I drew an atomic bomb tonight to go with my rabbit-in-a-gas-mask piece for the Student Competitive. Tomorrow includes Gel Medium Transfers onto old records, a sculpture class, making a nude person out of Plasticine, and dos educationos classesos. :) One of which involves me making an Art History Webquest (which is going AWESOMELY!). My birthday is soon and as a treat I'm being taken to the Little Rock Zoo. I hope I can have some Photography up from then....I haven't Photographed ANYTHING in TOO long.

By the way- Congrats to Susanna Kirk on her Senior show. Very beautiful, dearie!

My Latest World

Hey, everyone! Here's my latest undertakings!

I'm still in Art School....working my @$$ off as always! I'm 1. Working on a abstract plaster sculpture. 2. Getting ready to cast Susie's head in concrete. 3. Working on a painting featuring my favorite animal: A Jackalope!! and 4. Starting a new drawing assignment "Ordinary to Extraordinary". I'm not sure what my object is going to be. Any suggestions?

The Student Competitive Art Show is coming up. This is my first time attempting to enter my art into any kind of show. I'm really nervous...I think I'm mostly worried about not measuring up and being rejected...I don't expect to get in because it's my first time. I don't know how many professors have told me that the ratio of accepted to entered is realllllly low. I'm bracing myself for it and hoping I get a piece of art to be proud of out of it.

So...that being said...here's PART of my first piece. This rabbit is digital, but the end piece will be a combination of digital, painting, drawing, etc...I'm not sure what else. I'm really excited about this!!

Feedback is appreciated! If you want to use my rabbit...please ask first.
